Michelle Chua
Chief Financial Officer
Michelle joined Commerce DotAsia Venture Sdn. Bhd. in Mar23. Her role is to be a key partner in developing, monitoring, governing, and evaluating the overall corporate financial strategy, planning and analysis with a focus on bottom line financial and operating performance, while enhancing investor and shareholder value for the group of companies.
Michelle commenced her career as management trainee in a local commercial bank. She then proceeded to be an internal auditor in the bank and later Shangri-La Hotels International Management Bhd. In the 6 years tenures in internal audit, she is an established contributor in organizational set up, policies setting, system review and good corporate governance culture. Her extensive travel and exposure in the Asian Pacific region enabled her practicing an integrated and systematic management structure for Group’s central management and goals alignment.
Michelle’s first financial reporting role was with Excel Force MSC Bhd, a listed Co specializing in financial solutions for share trading system. She was the finance lead in the due diligence and corporate exercises from the inception of IPO until the listing of the Company. She was responsible for external financial reporting for three years in this listed Co.
From 2007 till now, Michelle has joined various industries, spearheaded different finance and accounting teams and continued to be a formidable force to work together with business owners and executive suite to achieve business growth, profitability and positive cash flow. On top of her financial and accounting reporting responsibilities, Michelle provided important inputs for group tax planning with proper transfer pricing documentations. Michelle also plays instrumental roles for the ISO, OHSAS and EMS certifications in two of the companies she worked for.
Prior to Commerce DotAsia, she assumed a dual role with an e-commerce startup specializing in pet food and pet care products. She was the Malaysian Country Manager and the Group Financial Reporting Lead for Singapore HQ. She is tasked to strategically plan resources with all parties in optimizing cash flow, maintain healthy inventory levels, achieve the targeted margin and fundamentally bring the Group to intended EBITDA level.
Michelle is a Finance and Accountancy graduate from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, ACCA and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).)
